Dear friends and colleagues, It is an honour and an immense pleasure to invite you to attend the 5th International Meeting of the European Platform for Photodynamic Medicine (EPPM), which will be held in Ustron, Poland, on November 7-9, 2013.  Ustron is without doubt one of the most charming towns in the Silesian Beskid mountains, nestling attractively in the Vistula valley. It’s an excellent place for a break, for all kinds of sports and recreation as well as for a scientific meeting.        The aim of our meeting is to present the up-to date knowledge in photodynamic medicine, that is the framework to the development of more effective therapies in order to improve human health.     During  the meeting we will focus on fluorescence diagnosis of pre-cancerous lesions and cancer, clinical photodynamic therapy particularly of cancer, current status and future trends in photodynamic therapy of microbial infections and dermatological diseases, and recent advances in basic aspects of photodynamic therapy, including the use of nanotechnologies, novel approaches to targeting of diseased tissues, and instrumentation for early diagnosis and dosimetry.
